Coarse pine bark mulch
Coarse pine bark mulch can be used as a second (top) layer, to decorate larger areas (e.g. under thujas, pine trees or hedges). Owing to its particle size, it does not provide immediate protection against weeds. However, if you already have pine bark mulch on the soil and you only want to replenish, “thicken” the mulch layer, coarse pine bark mulch is the ideal choice.

Exact size-selected bark mulch
Exact size-selected pine bark mulch can be used primarily for decoration purposes (e.g. in rockeries) or as pet bedding. Exact size-selected pine bark mulches are available in two size categories: the 2-6-cm class and the 6-10-cm class. Smaller piece mulch (“medium” size) can be used around smaller plants, in plant boxes and pots, while the ideal areas of usage of larger piece mulch (“large” size) are places where sight is of key importance, for example, in front gardens, under smaller shrubs or along garden paths.

Fine pine bark mulch
The pine bark mulch, consisting of fine bark pieces, is recommended to be used as the first (bottom) layer as it provides better soil surface covering and is, therefore, more effective against weeds. Weeds cannot break through this soil covering, the mulch retains the soil’s moisture content and even protects against frost. Its recommended minimum laying thickness is 5 cm. Area equivalent of unit quantity for laying: 50 litres = 1 square metre, if laid in a thickness of 5 cm. This mulch is the foundation of all types of soil covering!

Pine bark mulches: classification

Fine pine bark mulch independently of the actual pine species:

Of pine bark mulches, fine bark mulch plays the most important role!

Size classification: from bark powder to a maximum piece size two centimetres, i.e. between 0-2 cm.

Areas and purposes of use: to retain moisture and to suppress weeds, in some cases, for decoration around small plants or, mixed with soil, to loosen soil structure and to acidify the soil’s pH value.

Area equivalent of unit quantity for laying: 100 litres = 2 square metres, if laying thickness is at least 5 cm! The pine bark mulches sold by our company are available in 50-litre and 100-litre sacks, as well as in bulk. Though the particle size of this mulch type proves attractive to few customers at first sight, if you want to achieve really good results with mulching, this mulch type is indispensable in your garden!

The recommended minimum laying thickness of „Fine” bark mulch is 5 cm!

This mulch is not classified or selected by pine species as with this size, the differences between species are negligible.

Advantages of fine pine bark mulch:

  • Suppresses weeds,
  • Retains the moisture content of the soil,
  • Protects the top (fertile) layer of the soil!

Coarse pine bark mulch:

Coarse pine bark mulch is excellently suitable for the uniform decoration of larger areas, as well as a bump absorption medium under garden playthings for children! (For use as bump absorption, a thickness of 20 cm is recommended!)

Size classification: bark pieces in the 2-12 cm size range.

Areas and purposes of use: usually as a second layer, to decorate larger surfaces, under hedges, pine trees and along fences.

Area equivalent of unit quantity for laying: 100 litres = 2 square metres will suffice with a bark laying thickness of 5 cm! Available in 50-litre and 100-litre sacks, as well as in bulk!

Coarse pine bark mulch may from the bark of Scots pine, borovi pine, black pine or Norway spruce.

The difference between the bark pieces of these species is only a minimum difference in shade.

Therefore, in our outlet customers buy products based on their size classification, independently of the pine species.
Before purchasing, you can make enquiries about our stock or visit our central site (Budapest, 17th District, Cinkotai út 20/a.) to look at the available product portfolio.

The efficiency of pine bark mulch is determined by the size classification of the pine bark mulch laid and the thickness of laying!

At the bottom, always fine bark mulch, while at the top always some coarse mulch should be laid, selected by its look!

Exact size-selected pine bark mulch:

During the production of exact size-selected pine bark mulch, more accurate size classification is applied, thus, it is recommended to decorate areas which are always before the eyes!

Size classification and use: (two size categories are applied)

  1. 2 – 6 cm bark pieces are used for pot plants and between smaller plants in the garden, where they form a homogeneous surface and prove a useful and very decorative solution!
  2. 6 – 10 cm bark pieces are used for garden paths, around shrubs and bushes, primarily between larger plants, where a rustic look is preferred!

Area equivalent of unit quantity for laying: 50 litres = 1 square metre will suffice with a bark laying thickness of 5 cm!

When using pine bark mulch, pay special attention to the following:

  • the laying thickness of the bark mulch,
  • the right size classification and
  • regular replenishing.

Customer comments
Beautiful and useful for both our plants and the soil.
I am satisfied with the usability of pine bark mulch!
They are truly good, they all work fine for us. They last long if the proper thickness is laid!
The fine mulch has proven really successful as less irrigation suffices and, moreover, only a handful of weak weeds sprout sometimes.
I have really good experience as weeds do not sprout and it looks truly nice.
